Abstract

The response of metal powders contained in columnar form to high voltage electrical discharge between its ends is described in terms of the electrical, physical, morphological, and compositional characteristics of the powder. The process is viewed as one involving oxide film breakdown, interparticle neck formation, and consolidation. The mechanics, structures, and industrial applications of the process are discussed.
