Abstract

In this paper a study is made of impact on a continuous beam on four supports. The impact is produced by collision of a solid sphere with the beam at the mid-point of the center span. The spans are of equal length and of constant cross section. Formulas are obtained for the deflections and strains. A numerical example illustrating the theory is worked out in detail.
